| | Born in Beloit, WI in 1914. Zimmer studied at the AIC before moving to California in 1939. While living in Sausalito he made training films for the War Department. After WWII he worked in San Francisco in commercial art and taught at the CSFA. In 1950 he moved north to Mendocino where he continued teaching watercolor classes at the Art Center.
