Born in Minneapolis, MN on Sept. 17, 1915. "Roy" Rydell studied at the Minneapolis Art Institute before moving to Los Angeles in 1929. He further studied there at the Chouinard Art School and USC followed by work at UC Berkeley and at Ecole de la Grand-Chaumière in Paris. A landscape architect, he later lived in Santa Cruz, CA until his demise on Oct. 26, 2000.
