Biography Augustus Kenderdine
Augustus F. Kenderdine was born near Blackpool, Lancashire, England, and received his first painting lessons from his godfather, Augustus Lafosse, at the Manchester School of Art. He subsequently studied at the Academie Julian under Jules Lefevre and returned to England where he opened an art shop and studio in Blackpool. He became known as a portraitist as well as a landscape painter and exhibited at the Paris Salon and the Royal Academy in 1901.
In 1908 he emigrated to Canada with his wife, son, and three daughters to homestead near Lashburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. He moved to Saskatoon in 1922, accepting the offer of studio space at the University of Saskatchewan. He taught his first class in 1926-1927.
