George Roilos was one of the most important Greek painters of the 'Group of Munich "with particular interest in historical themes and portraiture. As a professor of oil painting in place Iakovidis from 1910 deviated from the academic trends (you integrated standard Standards Code) concerned mainly for the renewal of teaching by imposing greater freedom. 
The Roilos studied painting first at the School of Arts (the later the School of Fine Arts in Athens, with teacher Nikiforos Litra. In 1888 he went on a scholarship in Munich to continue his studies near Nikolaos Gizis.
