Grace (Comstock) Heath was born in Ithaca, Michigan in
1897. She married Raymond B. Heath in 1925, and together they had a son and
daughter. She was a resident artist in the Milwaukee area for many
years where she was considered a prominent artist
of the community. She was a painter noted of confident, vigorous and
colorful paintings and focused on both landscapes and portraits including many prominent Milwaukee area residents
of the 1930's era.
One portrait commission
ended with a rather interesting law suit. According to Milwaukee newspapers
of the time, she sued a socially prominent "playboy" of the area for
failure to pay a $300 note he gave her for a portrait of himsel
