Theodore Max Helmle was born in Germany on September 3, 1877. Helmle was a pupil at San Francisco Art Institute in 1912-13.
He continued in the City as a lithographer into the 1930s and had commercial art studio there in the 1940s.
He died in San Francisco on September 30, 1965.
