Graduate of Pratt Institute General Art Course, 1919; Student at the Art Student's League of New York; studied painting under Henry B. Snell.
He taught illustration, figure and poster work since March 5, 1923 in New York City High Schools. Schnelle exhibited at the New York Water Color Club, American Water Color Society, National Art's Club, Albany Institute of History and Art, and more.
He made his living being a (commercial) illustrator. For example, he drew Lincoln's portrait for The Lincoln Savings Bank of Brooklyn (Incorporated 1866).
