Biography Paul Friesen
Son of missionaries, Friesen attended Woodstock School at Landour in the Himalayan mountains north of Delhi, India receiving a very classical orientation to the visual arts, primarily drawing and watercolor. His interest in sculpturing was inspired by Indian craftsmen who carved
walking canes, furniture pieces, screen dividers, etc. The family returned to the United States in 1941 and Friesen finished his last year of high school at Hesston Academy in Hesston in 1942 and graduated from Hesston College in 1945. He attended Goshen Academy, went to the Univ. of Wichita in 1956-57, and finished his graduate work at Fort Hays State College with an M.S. in Art Education.
