Felix Bracquemond was a prominent artist in late 19th century France, being a close friend of Manet, Whistler, Corot, Millet, and others. He's said to have been the one to have recognized the beauty of the Hokusai woodcuts used as packing in a shipment of Japanese china, which led to an important change in European art.
