Richard Oscar Burg was born in Missouri on September 13, 1911. "Dick" Burg graduated from Westminster College and worked for Hallmark Cards for 35 years. By 1946 he had moved to southern California into a studio-home overlooking the Pacific Ocean. He was active in Los Angeles with the Businessmen's Art Institute and won prizes in their exhibitions. He died there on August 20, 1994. His painting subjects include seascapes, ships, harbor scenes, and desert landscapes.
