Rosemary Close Johnson was born in Illinois on January 10, 1913. Rosemary grew up and lived most of her life in Lockport, Illinois. She studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and then worked for several years at Marshall Field & Company before her marriage to Howard Johnson in 1943. She made trips to California before settling in San Luis Obispo in 1973. She was an active member of the Central Coast Watercolor Society until her demise in San Luis Obispo on March 9, 2011.
