Born in Oregon on Aug. 7, 1902, Harold Wagner studied at the University of Oregon. His first job was working for Arthur and Lucia Mathews as a draftsman at their studio in San Francisco.
In 1933 the Grafton Gallery instituted a series of exhibitions by distinguished California artists which they called the "Group of Eight" composed of Frank T. Johnson, Gustav Liljestrom, Armin Hansen, Wm Ritschel, Arthur Hill Gilbert, Wm Wendt, Edgar Payne, and Wagner. During this time he was working as an architect in the office of Wm Faville.
Wagner died in San Francisco on Feb. 3, 1976.
