In 1989, his paintings were featured in Martin Scorsese's film, New York Stories: Life Lessons. The Art of Failure: Chuck Connelly Not For Sale, a documentary directed by Jeff Stimmel, premiered at the L.A. Film Festival in June 2008, and shown on HBO in July 2008. The film included much footage of the artist's personal struggles, his darkest sides, but when the focus became his paintings, the sun came right out.
