Biography Claire Dooner-Phillips
Born in Los Angeles, Claire Dooner-Phillips became a landscape painter and etcher who spent the last thirty years of her life in Prescott, Arizona.
She attended Stanford University and later studied with Arthur Dow at Columbia University. She taught at Hollywood High School and was a co-founder of the Laguna Beach Art Association in 1918 and a member of the California Art Club.
After the death of her mother, she moved to Prescott, Arizona where she gave art lessons, and in 1927, married Kervin Phillips, who made exquisite gilded frames for his wife's paintings. She exhibited at the Arizona State Fair, and her work is in the collection of the Arizona Historical Museum.
