Edgardo Saporetti was an Italian painter. He studied in Florence under Cesare Mariani, and in Naples, under Domenico Morelli. He was commissioned to paint portraits of King Umberto’s family.
Saporetti’s life and career was a stormy one due to lifestyle and finical habits. He exiled to London only to return to Florence where he became a professor of painting at The Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He was then commissioned to paint a series of illustrations to be used in Vittorio Alinari’s The Devine Comedy.
