Edward McMurtry Stevenson was an American landscape artist, illustrator and comic artist. Born in Lexington, KY, he studied at the Art Students League in New York. Stevenson was an illustrator in oils and watercolor for pulp and western magazines and he also made illustrations for the Saturday Evening Post.

He specialized in seascapes, cowboys on horseback, Native Americans and wild animal /jungle illustrations. He made comic strips based on Frank Buck's Ted Towers - Animal Master (1936-1939) and Bring 'm Back Alive! for King Features Syndicate. Stevenson has made several canvases, such as his oil color painting of George Washington at Valley Forge.
