Emily Jane Jackson Lakey was active/lived in New Jersey, New York.  Emily Lakey is known for domestic animals and still life painting.

Biography   Emily Jane Jackson Lakey

Born in Quincy, New York and the daughter of James Jackson, Emily Jane Jackson Lakey was educated by private teachers, taught school in Ohio and Tennessee and took up the study of the art of painting.

She exhibited her paintings first in Chicago, Illinois in 1870 and at the National Academy of Design in 1873. She studied in Europe with Emile nan Marcke in Paris, and in the galleries there and in Florence and London.

After her return to New York City in 1887, she devoted all her time to art, making a specialty of domestic animals.  She was married in 1865 to Charles D. Lakey of New York.
