Francis Ernest Jackson (1872-1945)

He was instrumental in the development of lithography among artists in Great Britain.  He helped launch The Imprint and Neolith, both publications devoted to improving standards in printing art works.  In 1910 he founded the Senefelder Club whose members included Joseph Pennell and Matisse.  In 1922 he was instrumental in reviving the interest in tempera with many artists.

Jackson was born August 15, 1872, in Yorkshire.  His education began at Yorkshire College.  He then studied "trade lithography" at Bolt Court.  He was encouraged to go to Paris where he studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and Académe Julian.
