Biography Friedrich Burghard Muller
Friedrich Burghard Müller studied at the Munich Academy and spent the years 1834-1853 in Rome. His idealizing landscapes are inspired by the style of Joseph Anton Koch. Only a few works by Müller have been preserved, including a painting with a "view of Terracina", which is now in the Landesmuseum Mainz.
The picture of the plant-grown, ancient ruin with a round tower in the background is based on the tomb of Caecilia Metella on Via Appia Antica in Rome.
