GEORGE CROSSINGHAM JR. (May 1826 – January 9, 1886)
Carriage, Sign, and Ornamental painter. Born in Great Britain, the son of Lydia Pitcher (1804 – a. 1850) and George Crossingham Sr. (1800 – 1849). His father was a baker by trade, and came to America in June of 1826, arriving in Boston, Massachusetts aboard the ship, Dawn. Subsequently he moved his young family to New York County (Manhattan Island), New York. He declared his intention to become a United States citizen in 1837 and was naturalized in April of 1839.
