Jay Irving

Jay Irving (1900 - 1970) was active/lived in New York.  Jay Irving is known for Illustrations-cartoons.

Born Irving Joel Rafsky in New York City, he became best known for his syndicated strip named for the title figure "Pottsy", a New York City police officer.Irving studied ar Columbia University and subsequently worked as a newspaper reporter for several  papers. In the late 1920s, he became a sports cartoonist, drew the strip "Bozo Blimp", and worked in advertising.

Beginning in 1932, and for the next 13 years, he drew the weekly panel "Collier's Cops" for Colliers Weekly. In 1946 he created the comic strip "Willie Doodle" for the Herald-Tribune Syndicate, which also syndicated his "Pottsy" strip from 1955 to 1970.

Jay Irving died of a heart attack in his New York apartment on June 5, 1970.
