Paul Jones was born in Indianola, Iowa on November 18, 1924.
After graduation from high school in 1943, he was drafted in the army
where he served with a field artillery battery in the Far East
campaign. Being eligible for the G.I. bill, he enrolled in the
summer of 1946 as a freshman at the State University of Iowa campus at
