Biography Luigi Lojacono
Since no detailed studies have been carried out on the figure of Luigi Lojacono, there are few reports on his life and artistic production. Father of the more famous Francesco, Luigi was a pupil of Giuseppe Patania and worked in the study of Salvatore Lo Forte. He overcame the initial neoclassical formation in contact with the new romantic requests, thanks also to the active participation of the Risorgimento and Garibaldi companies.
He was the painter of portraits, many of which today at the Biblioteca Comunale of Palermo, and of religious subjects, but above all he distinguished himself for the numerous battle scenes inspired by seventeenth-century painting by Salvator Rosa and Micco Spadaro.
