Pauline Peugniez was born in 1890 in Amiens, France.
Peugniez began the formation of l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts d'Amiens, and later settled in Paris to study with Hambert. She met Jean Hebert-Stevens whom she married. Her major influence was no doubt Maurice Denis, who was a professor with George Desvallières at Ateliers d'Art starting in 1919 in the old studio of Delacroix.
Peugniez and her husband opened an atelier* to make stained glass with designs of Marcel Gromaire, Maurice Denis, Georges Desvallieres, Georges Rouault, and Jean Bazaine.
In 1919, Peugniez became a member of the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts*, and in 1920 began exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne* and the Salon des Tuileries.
