Arthur Covey

Arthur Sinclair Covey (1877 - 1960) was active/lived in Illinois, Kansas.  Arthur Covey is known for Genre, mural, landscape, etcher.

Born Leroy, IL, June 13, 1877; died Torrington, CT., 1960. Mural painter. Etcher. Lithographer. Raised in El Dorado. Studied at Southwestern College, Winfield; Art Institute of Chicago with John H. Vanderpoel, 1899-1903; Paris; Royal Academy of Art; Munich with Karl Marr, 1904; London, assistant to Frank Brangwyn, 1905-08. Studied with Frank Duveneck and Garie Melchers, 1904. First professional work was drawing American subjects for the Indianapolis newspaper, News, and the Cleveland Press. Instructed in London School of Art. Lived at 5 Bank St. in New York in 1917. Became the Director of the Department of Mural Decoration under the National Academy of Design in 1932.
