Arthur Aeschbacher

Arthur Aeschbacher was born in Geneva, where he studied at the Art Academy from 1941 to 1944.  After WWII he continued his education at the Académie Julian in Paris from 1948 to 1950.  Around 1959 he joined the 'Affichistes', whose representatives belonged to the movement of the Nouveaux Réalistes in Paris.

His early works were deeply inspired by the pictorial and sublime effects of painting.  Later, Aeschbacher increasingly focused on unusual materials such as roller blinds and seems to have been also influenced by Cubism.

His oeuvre includes not only décollages but also lithographs and tapestries.  Today, works by Arthur Aeschbacher are presented, for example, at the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Pari  ...  Displaying 750 of 801 characters.
