Jeanie Spring Peet

Jeanie Spring Peet (1843 - 1921) was active/lived in California.  Jeanie Peet is known for Sculpture.

Born in New York on May 16, 1843. As a correspondent for the New York Tribune, Mrs. Peet made the overland trek by stage coach and arrived in Los Angeles in 1874. During the 1880s she was active in Los Angeles and had a studio in the Vickery Bldg where she offered courses in clay modeling. During the 1890s she lived and worked in San Francisco. By 1899 she had returned to Los Angeles and was active there until her death on Dec. 5, 1921. Primarily a sculptor, she was also a painter and a published poet. Member: : Artists League of So. Calif. (founder, 1893). Exh: Mechanics' Inst. (SF), 1893.
