She attended the Arts Student League and Columbia University, and from her studio at 63rd Street and Broadway, she painted hundreds of portraits of military dignitaries, university presidents, bank officials and members of affluent families.
In an interview with the New Orleans Times-Picayune in 1991, she talked about the thousands of portraits she painted and the one closest to her heart.
