Nanette Lederer Calder was born in Milwaukee, WI in 1866. Nanette Lederer studied at the PAFA and in Paris with Constant and Courtois. The wife of A. Stirling Calder, she lived in Pasadena during 1906-10 and found models among the local Indians. During 1913-15 she lived in San Francisco and Berkeley. While busy raising a son, she allowed her husband to have the art career but in her later years painted portraits, landscapes, and decorative subjects.
