Fellow Artist Mathias AltenJames A. Straub
Irving Couse and fellow artist Mathias J. Alten (1871-1938) were friends, Alten being from Grand Rapids, MI and Couse from Saginaw, MI. The two likely painted together in Taos, NM. Alten, in fact, painted "Irving Couse's Garden" (Grand Rapids Art Museum), perhaps the only extant vintage, color image of Couse's home and studio in Taos. E. I. Couse paintingGlenn Keller
This small painting of an Indian with pots and beadwork was purchased at auction in New York. It is painted on wood and I can't find a signature. It is so much like Mr. Couse work that I believe it is by him. Can anyone tell me more about this.
If you can help me I will send a picture of the painting to you.

Is anyone aware of any documented Couse works in private or public collections featuring his hometown of Saginaw, Michigan. Am looking for this information for updated biography.
