The "Duck Boy" Scultpure
John Cordova (03/30/2007)
I am doing some research on a sculpture entitled, The "Duck Boy" by McMonnies. It was commissioned by Edward Gale for him and wife for their mansion in Minneapolis, MN. Can anyone tell me something about this artist? His full name and biography? Thanks, John

E. Adina Gordon, Ph.D. (08/17/2001)
MacMonnies' own middle name was William. He did have two brothers. His father, William (1819-1896) immigrated to Brooklyn from New York. He had come from Scotland and had at least one brother there. I have written the Catalogue Raisonne of F. W. MacMoninies' sculpture, in short form in a book and in definitive, long form as a doctoral dissertation, as well as a Chceklist of the Paintings of the artist. Frederick never made any prints to my knowledge. Please contact me via e-mail if you are interested in his sculpture or paintings.

"Uncle" Fred :-)
Paul McMonnies (08/14/2001)
Frederick MacMonnies was a relative of mine (I think his brother William was my direct ancestor). I am DESPERATE to own a piece of his work (or even some prints !) - if anyone wants to talk about Fred, please contact me (I'm in the UK)
