I had not heard of Mr.Burk but was interested in his painting horses on the Dillon farm Bloomington,Il. I grew up on that farm many years later and am very knowledgeable of the then farm's layout.

I have a lithograph of the Percheron Stallion Bordeaux done by Lou Burk dated 1891. I'm assuming the work was of a real animal for advertisement. I haven't yet researched it with the Percheron Assoc. It has slight water damage in one corner, but is in pretty good shape otherwise.

I got in my posession an original drawing from Lou Burk. It is dated 1901 and comes from an exposition in Chicago. Lou Burk stayed with my Great-grandfather on his farm in Belgium,Europe around the year 1900.

I have been told that the painting was a retirement present to my great, great grandfather. Who was employed as a groom by a gentleman, he was given the painting of a horse which he worked with and looked after all the horses life. The painting is signed Lou Burke 1860. So I am curious to know who Lou was so that I can find out more about my family history.
