Always interested on knowing what is out there.

sharon (06/11/2014)
I have a signed in crayon Peter Max picture where the signature included lines (in crayon) around the picture. THere is an angel, Saturn, earth and several other planets on a blue background. Lots of stars. The border is purple. I can't find it anywhere and I would love to know the name of the piece, year it was done. I don't know if it's an original or a print, it's not numbered. thank you

Peter Max "Artist Series" Profile and Vase
steve (06/04/2014)
I have a 1992 signed Max acrylic on canvas that says on the back of the casnvas that the title is Profile and Vase. It shows it to be Artist Series I, #1. I cannot find any information about the "Artist Series". The painting of of a colorful vase of flowers that seems to be set on a table and a simple facial profile, about the same size as vase and flowers looking towards the vase. The profile is placed so that it looks as though the head may be sitting on top of the same table as the vase and flowers. I can't find anything else that I think really looks like this painting. If you know where I can find anything about Max's "Artist Series" or other paintings like this one, I'd appreciate the info.

I have number 142/300 of his Lady Liberty in colored pencil, signed by Peter in pencil. I have only seen a poster of it and would like to know for insurance purposes what it is worth. I can send a picture is you like. Thank you. A pastel print which first appeared on the US Peace silver dollars from 1921 through 1935. This concept was conceived by the coin company of Kagin's in 1983 for the official American Numismatic Association auction. The image was placed on the front cover of the auction catalog. This red ,white and blue "Liberty" is among his most beautiful works.

Peter Max Painting
Jeremy (10/16/2011)
I purchased a small max lithograph/seriolithograph from Park West on a cruise, called Vase of Flowers for ~950 bucks, shipped, framed, and appraised. I don't think the price is too bad, but some of the reviews I keep seeing of Park West have me concerned. Does anyone have any feedback on this topic? It would be appreciated.

Peter's Stars
Ian Taylor (09/25/2011)
I've been doing some paintings influenced by Peter Max. I'm having trouble with painting the stars in the background "beams of light". I've made stencils and by the time I get them finished they look, to me, sloppy. On Peter's, the stars have rounded sides, and all look perfect. Of course he's a great artist, but I'm wondering about his method. I'm painting on tempered hardboard and using Golden and Liquitex acrylics. If I paint the beams of light first, then I have to paint gesso and usually two coats of topcoat to get the stars to look opaque, and after those three coats there's no way they look near acceptable. I'm wondering if he had rubber stamps made up for maybe three sizes of stars. Some of his stuff (the Pan Am ad for instance) has so many stars exactly the same made me wonder if they were stamped. Does anybody have any experience with this?

I have images for fans to see, its GEORGEOUS!

peter max sheets
maxine (08/13/2011)
My mom saved (meticulously) my peter max sheet set I had as a child. Cover sheet and 2 pillow cases look like new with no damage. I remember the bottom sheet being solid orange, and that was not kept. Twin size. They are gorgeous. This is from the 60's.

Are Liberties only painted on July 4th
heather (05/25/2011)
Does anyone know if there is any truth to the claim that Peter Max ONLY paints the statue of liberty on July 4th? If so, does that apply to full Liberties or heads as well? What about the mixed media Liberties? Thanks!

Liberty Head
Russ Sill (09/17/2010)
Harry, the "doodle" on the back should be the work of Peter Max himself. This is normal by Peter when one of his works are purchased. He does this for the buyer. So yes it would add to the value, since you now have two Peter Max originals...hope this helps, Russ Sill :)

Marlyn Kaytor / Peter Max
Russ Sill (09/14/2010)
Russ Sill/Marlyn Kaytor Robert Ruark/Russ Sill Peter Max /Russ Sill I have the good fortune to own a unique piece by Peter Max. In 1981 Peter Max hand painted a bottle of Moet Champaign for the food editor of Look Magazine, Marlyn Kaytor. Desinged with the usual flair of paints & colors that are infamous of Peter's style, the bottle says "Marlyn" and is dated 1981. Marlyn Kaytor also wrote the book, The Life and Times of "Club 21" in NYC. She also lived with the famous author and safari game hunter, Robert Ruark who died around 1963. While I have a few nice pieces I have collected of Peter Max's work, I consider this to be a "pride & joy." Doyle of New York, handled the estate of Marlyn Kaytor when she died in an fire in her upper east side apartment in NYC in 2007. The fire started from her cigarette in her bedroom. The apartment was damaged but not destroyed. Along with this work by Peter Max, there were two paintings by Andy Warhol, one titled "The Golden Shoe" which sold for $205,000.00 In October I will be meeting Peter Max and asking him to revisit this piece he did for Marlyn Kaytor, and requesting that he adds the date 2010...The works of Peter Max are genius in my opinion as I continue to purchase and collect his works for my self pleasure alone. I encourage Peter Max admirers to do the same. :)

Peter Max silk scarf
Mary (01/17/2010)
I just acquired a Peter Max silk scarf. It is 41 inches long and has two face profiles facing a rainbow. under the rainbow is a mountain with clouds over it. The rainbow has rays shooting out of it with stars in the rays and many circles between the rays. It is done in pink, lime green and and orange colors. Does anyone know the name of this piece? Thanks

original solar system painting by Peter Max!
Jim Mooney (12/10/2009)
To Mr. Lou Jewell, could you please tell me if Peter ever did a 40"x50" painting ,I'm not sure if it's oil or acrylic, of the sun and moon and all the smaller circles around the two bigger circles (the sun and the moon I think) are representing the rest of the planets in the solar system ? This piece is signed "MAX"in black in the lower right corner and seems to be from the 60's. The predominant colors in the painting are blues, pinks, greys and shades of off white. there is a thickness of paint on the canvas that in some instances represents waves that are leaving away from the sun and the moon The two large circles are about 9"across and one is pinkand the other one is blue, and each one has approx. 10-12 2" circles that have thick paint lines filling each small circle within the two bigger circles. Can you offer me any help I believe this piece has something to do with his love of astronomy in his earlier yrs. when he even sterted painting in Israel. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated. Jim Mooney/avid art collector

Peter Max Restaurant
Jane (04/02/2008)
I was given four different posters/prints titled "A Restaurant designed by Peter Max" I cannot find any information on these at all, and no pictures are on any websites either, so I am wondering if they're rare. I was living in Greenwich Village, NY at the time and was given them in 1983, so I know they pre-date that year, look as if from the 60s/70s. Thanks

Suenell (02/20/2008)
I bought a small poster today & would like to know if it's worth anything. If not, that's fine, I love Peter's work & it will look fab in our hall. The main body of the poster has a Pan Am plane tilted upward toward the left corner. At the top of the poster is a Pan Am logo with 747 next to it. At the bottom of the poster is, "Printed in the USA P-200 10/69." I've searched everywhere I cna think of & can find no info. Can someone tell me anything about this pretty poster? Thanks for your time!

Brian J. Figueroa (09/23/2007)
I am attempting to find a copy of a drawing done by Peter Max in 1968, which appeared in the November 10, 1968 New York Times Supplement. It was a color drawing on the Coffee House Ministry I operated in Greenwich Village in the sixties for the Salvation Army. It is titled: Answer, and I have copies of the pring taken from the New York Times Supplemen. Can anyone assist me in locating the original, or was only one drawing done? I have been in contact with an art gallery that sells his work on the internet, but have as yet not heard back from them. Please contact me,if you can help me find out more about this pring. Thanks very much.
