deanna (09/10/2011)
this bronze statue has been in the family for several years. it sets on a marble base with a title plate, and is signed p.j.mene on the bronze base. it weighs 46.8 pounds. the measurements are 16 1/2H x 21L. it is odd because the stallion's head is turned to the right and the right front leg is lifted. i would like to know the estimated value of this piece, please.

looking for value of chalk sculpture
sheila (03/16/2010)
I purchased a chalk sculpture at an auction, about 10 years ago. I know nothing about it other than it is stamped Mene. It is a sculpture of a child on a bull. It is beatuifully done with excellent detail. I would love to know the value and a little about the history if anyone knows anything about the piece I would greatly apperciate any info you coul give me. Thank you, Sheila

LARGE MENE BRONZE, dog guarding catch.
Chris (11/10/2008)
Hi. I have a large bronze signed P.J. MENE (the first E has an accent over it). It is approx 14" x 8" - 12 inches high. Nice bronze/brown patina. It is of a dog standing by a tree stump. Hanging off the stump is a pheasant and a hare+ a game bag, powder horn and whip. Some vines along the base of the tree. Amazing detail. No forge marks - but I'm not sure what I'm looking for to be honest - I can't find a reference to this particular piece anyway - anyone know about??? Thanks.

Ann Brainerd (10/07/2008)
Hello Ondrea, I believe the name of your bronze is L'Accolade. A sculpture of an Arabian mare and stallion. If original, I'd contact Sotheby's. There are many copies of this sculpture, some good, some dreadful. The sculptor's name is pronounced "men." I hope that this is helpful. Send me an email picture if I can be of help. Ann
