do you think my painting was from the same lot as Shirley's 04/02/2009?
jeanette (04/25/2009)
I reall think my painting is one of Mr.Hunter's older ones as the crocks and jug in the print appear to be antique. There is also an orange hiding in a bowl on the left of the plate of oranges.

Question regarding a Robert Douglas Hunter painting I have
Shirley (04/02/2009)
I have a painting (I believe it is oil) that is signed by Robert Douglas Hunter, the description is as follows: It has a green plate with 3 or 4 oranges through out the painting, a decorative colbalt blue stoneware jug, 2- 3 other crocks and flowers. Has anyone ever seen this painting or know anything about it? Thanks, appreciate any feedback!

Robert Douglas Hunter Print
Judy (08/03/2008)
I have a RDH print with a couple of lemons, a green jug with the handle and a brass pot with handles which appear to be sitting on a shelf.. It is signed RDH on the lower right hand side with capital letters, ROBERT DOUGLAS HUNTER. It also has a yellow flower between the brass pot and one of the lemons on the left side of the picture. Appears to be oil on canvas, but not sure. I bought the picture at a womens shelter store. Does anyone know anything about this picture. Thanks in advance for any help.

family background
Cliff Hunter (06/21/2008)
I had an uncle who passed away in 1931 from an illness, who was an exceptional self-taught artist. We believe that he may have had a son who we cannot locate. Is there any chance Robert had any family who lived in or near Portland, Oregon? I saw a wonderful portrait of a boy with a baseball, glove and hat at the Maryhill Museum and it got me to thinking.

I inherited a RDH (signed, framed and title in original frame) painting titled, Still Life with Oranges. Do you know anything about this painting?

Jessica Beaulieu (03/15/2007)
I inherit a still life black and white painting by Robert Douglas Hunter, I am not sure of the age, by the looks of the frame, it appears to be at least 30 plus years. It has a vase and flowers? I am not sure of the measurements but it is a big canvas. Does anyone know what year this would come from, or how can we have painting aged? I am interested in learning more about this painting for he come's from my neighboring state NH.. Thank you kindly for your feed back..

Jan WIssinger (02/07/2007)
I purchased a picture with ROBERT DOUGLAS HUNTER printed in the bottom left corner. The picture is of some fruit , dried flowers, and three baby cherubs playing with what looks to be a bird. These cherubs or babies are on a statue. They are entirely white in color. The picture is approximately 3' x 1' (just a guess). Does anyone know anything about it. It looks old!!!

Signature "Douglas Hunter"
Edith Morgan (08/20/2006)
I also have painting signed just Douglas Hunter, it looks like the same painting. Does he sign his name that way sometimes? It is an oil canvas painting of dishes. I would appreciate a response. Thank you.

landscape from Provincetown 1953/4 "Race Run"
Phillip St. John (05/01/2006)
I own a vintage landscape by Robert. I can send anyone a photo of it that they'd like to see. I spoke with him on the phone the other day and he talked about the painting as if it were in front of him and it's over 50 years old. He even remebered who bought it, where they were from. It reminded me how real artists treat their paintings like babies, or children. I was amazed. Certainly, this man is a treasure for his gifts in art.

portrait of my father
Barbara Toohey (04/22/2006)
I have a portrait of my father done by Mr. Hunter when he was still a student in Boston. It is only signed "Hunter", but I do believe it is by Robert Douglas Hunter. It is not for sale, but I am wondering if it is possible to let Mr. Hunter know of its existence and how cherished it is. It has been in my family since about 1949 or 50. I believe it is one of the first portraits he ever did.

artwork by robert douglas hunter
tleyes (04/20/2006)
I have a piece of artwork by RDH that is signed on lower left (I think it is a reproduction -- bought it at an antique shop several years ago). It has a brass pot on the left with a brass teapot in the middle and a wide bottle of wine in a wicker cover on the far right. There is a turquoise cloth draped across the table and apples oranges and cherries interspersed on the table. There is also a small while saucer on the right. It is 12/24. Any ideas of the name and year of this piece of work? Thanks...t

title of reproduction?
Carol Pearson (04/03/2006)
I ran across a Robert Douglas Hunter reproduction and would like to know the name of it. The "painting" is approx. 24x48 and contains, on the back row, from left to right, a green, narrow-necked glass bottle; a round, flat-bottomed basket; and a large "clear" glass bottle with reflections of windows (and perhaps a city skyline outside the windows???). The foreground has oranges, lemons, and limes. Interspersed among the fruit and glass bottles (and around a tall silver pitcher in the middle foreground) are both baby's breath (?) and some feathery/bushy stuff on stalks (lost the poetry there-- sorry). It's beautiful, even for a reproduction, and I'd love to know what it's called. Please copy any replies to my email address, as I may not be able to find my way back to this site again (new to computers). Thanks so much!

Hunter Landscapes
Kathryn Lima (12/26/2003)
We own two Hunter landscapes of Cape Cod scenes, purchased at the Cape Museum of Fine Arts Wet Art Auctions in 1991 and 1992. Now that we live in PA, they remind us of the wonderful years we spent on Cape Cod, and of Mr. Hunter's graciousness and talent.

still life
Kathie Brindisi (06/18/2003)
I just would like to say, "extroadinary" and absolutely marveous. I enjoy the picture "still life with basket" every day. Thank you.
