Update on Roy Schnackenbergdoug schnackenberg
Ever since his considerable success in the 60's and into the 80's, my father has been in artistic seclusion. He still paints religiously everyday, but whereas in earlier times it would be weeks or months, it is now often a matter of years before a work comes down off the easel. His style is also more subdued and has softened from the boldly done abstractions of the early 60's and the provocative surrealism of the 70's to a quieter more contemplative use of the usual, unusual pairing of figures and settings, which are now often misty and ghost-like in appearance. To my knowledge no shows are in the works.
