Sterling Strauser-auction integritySeymour
I have purchased a number of Srauser paintings from one local auction house over the years. I enjoy his work and also bought them as an investment.
Recently the same auction house advertised a number of Strauser paintings. I bid on three pieces. One of the pieces I was not the successful bidder. Two other paintings I was the sucessful bidder ($450 each)...upon inspection of the two, one was not signed...I questioned it...I was assured it was a Strauser...I declined and was given a refund. Then the auction representative provided me a story about the consigner of the paintings and that the first painting I bid on (not successful) he might be able to get it for me at a lower price than it sold for...long story short I bought the painting for $800...lower than what it sold for.
Do Strauser paintings have value?
Should I investigate the dealings of the auction house?
does anyone have a photo of strauser?

I own a piece by Strauser that is dated 1954 and is very different from most of his work.
It looks like some type of flower but many people see different images in it.
I would like to know what it is called if there is a reference to it and an approximation of its worth.
Is Strauser's art considered a good investment?
